AhlulBayt News Agency - On Saturday morning in the Hama Governorate’s eastern countryside, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a powerful offensive to capture the eastern sector of the Al-Salamiyah District from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF).
The terrorist group began their offensive by conducting 7 suicide attacks on NDF checkpoints in the Al-Salamiyah District’s eastern countryside, resulting a number of large explosions that killed as many as 2 civilians and a half dozen soldiers.
Following the 7 suicide attacks on the NDF checkpoints, the ISIS terrorists stormed the small villages located between the cities of Al-Salamiyah and Makhram, where they repeatedly attempted to infiltrate the front-line defenses of the Syrian Armed Forces.
However, ISIS’ offensive on Saturday proved unsuccessful once again, as they sustained heavy casualties amid the Syrian Arab Army’s counter-assault that resulted in the capture of Tayba village in the Al-Salamiyah countryside.
According to a military source in the city of Al-Salamiyah, the Syrian Armed Forces repelled all ISIS attacks while killing over 25 enemy combatants in the process.
ISIS has launched two massive assaults in the eastern countryside of Hama this week; however, only one of the attacks has proven to be successful, as it cutoff the Syrian government’s main supply route to the Aleppo Governorate.
